STOP STOP PRESS: The journey is over, but please continue to donate. All funds donated will go 100% to charity. We have done the very challenging event, and kept the blog updated, so please do help to maximise our charitable contribution. Go to the “donate” page to make a contribution.
STOP PRESS: See the Blog Posts page for updates and latest as the adventure begins!!!
In November 2009, our father/daughter team will join other adventurers on a gruelling 2000km drive in a 1950s style car through the cities, jungles, semi-desert and mountains of South India. We will need our wits about us as we dodge the cows, elephants and people on some of the world’s most challenging roads. Our relationship could be tested too!
Why? Because the event, known as Karma Enduro, aims to raise at least £150,000 (this year’s event raised £300K) for two children’s charities: UNICEF will use the money to help protect children and young people in India from the impact of HIV/AIDS. For more information have a look at the “The Project” page on this blog. The Rainbow Trust, in the UK, supports families with terminally ill children.
We have our own minimum fundraising target of £10,990, of which we have personally contributed the first £2,000. With your help, we hope to raise much more.
Please help – click the DONATE tab above to make a contribution.
And please check out info on our generous car sponsor: Action Planning on the Our Sponsors page.
Thank you.

I shall be worried t o death about you both. I think you are so brave, and after Christmas I shall send a donation! Much love
Take jump leads, gas, tool box, Haynes manual on Morris Oxfords, and a crate of beer for when that all fails! Very best of luck to you both. Donation happily made. Simon.
I wish i could join you – you will need someone to push start the car..and i have some considerable experience of that from my wife’s moris minor in the 60′s. A donation will be on the way.
joy to both of you..and salams…
Lost in admiration for your enthusiasm for physical discomfort, your understanding of the workings of the combustion engine, and for father and daughter’s obvious mutual affection and trust! I look forward to seeing the video in due course….. Donation on its way.
Enjoy the adventure and return home safely. Fingers will be crossed for you. Donation – of course.
Hmmm….if it means you’re out of the office for a couple of weeks I’m delighted to make a donation. If you stay away for an extra two weeks I’ll consider giving more – ha, ha! You know I’m only joking…!?*
I’m certainly not giving up my daily paper, cos I’m hoping there might at least be some coverage of the event. Do they still make Swarfega? Will make donation so you can keep hands clean… Lynn
It’s going to be for a great cause, and you will have a great time, can I come with you? Make sure you get an Ambassador – those cars go on for ever, but if they break down, any village blacksmith will make the right part to get them going again.
David and Katy
Have a great adventure together, this will be something to remember forever. I know you will succeed with David’s drive and determination. (I’m sure this ticks off one of the competency boxes David!!!!) Good Luck and donation made

David and Katy – Happy adventure/driving….and when the favourite Indian question “What to do?” jumps up, I hope the usual answer “Do the needful” actually works! Many congratulations to you both for taking on such a tough challenge
Dear David and Katy wow! Go for it! What a brilliant and worthwhile thing to do. I look forward to film updates on YouTube?!
Dear David,
I came to know about it through the UNICEF staff news and feel previledged to be part of it. Thank you for thinking of us.

I’m so glad I ran across your blog… This is an incredible journey you will be undertaking, and one I would like to make myself. I am curious, are you doing anything to prepare, like learning some of the language?
Best of luck,
Amy

Our challenge in India was generously sponsored by the Rotary Club in Bicester Oxfordshire, in England. I am not a member of Rotary and don’t know anything about clubs elsewhere in the world. I suggest you look on the Rotary Internationa “Club Locator” website:
